Latest alert from the DPI in Victoria. There has been one new infected property this week. This property had previously been infected and then resolved.
The introduction of birds from several sources is the likely source of re-infection in this case. A total of 71 properties have been infected to date. Of these, 49 have now been resolved. There have been no new cases identified outside of
Melbourne.
• There have been six more confirmed or suspect cases of Paramyxovirus 1 (PMV1) in feral pigeons, bringing the total to 71 cases. All cases thus far have occurred in greater metropolitan Melbourne.
• The last confirmed case of PMV1 occurred on 13 February 2012.
• Natural infection has not been detected in chickens; single cases have occurred in a collared sparrow hawk and a spotted turtle dove.
